Grace Bible Church is active with people in incarceration. We have several different types of prison ministry and are always looking for ways to be light and salt in the community around us. Along with those in prison we also work with the just released and preventative programs with those who have a high risk to either be sent to or return to jail such as the large homeless population in St. Petersburg.
The Charles Britt Halfway House is a Florida Department of Juvenile Justice run program serving up to 28 boys 14 to 18 years old. Grace Bible Church is involved with the boys by leading bible studies, conducting services, and mentoring these boys. Each boy has the choice of wither or not to be involved with us and while don’t most eventually do. We have seen many boys come to Christ, leave the program and continue to walk with the Lord. This is a very exciting ministry for us as we see God making radical changes in these boys’ lives.
Adult Prison Ministry
Grace Bible Church has both one on one and service oriented ministries in the Adult Prison system. The one on one is typically a very quiet and long term ministry that can go on for years while adult services in the prisons throughout Central Florida tend to be one offs whenever we can get permission to come in.
Rehabilitation and Return Prevention
We have also been very involved in helping both those just released from prison and preventative opportunities to keep people from going. Members of our congregation will meet with people to help them acquire the skills necessary to stay out of the system. These have included proper clothing and interview skills to get a job, tutorial help with reading so they are not illiterate, basic domestic skills so they can be self reliant and many other things as the need presents itself.
