Music Ministry
Worship of the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) at Grace Bible Church embraces a style which uses the best of the old and the best of the new – what we call a Historical/Contemporary worship service. The congregation sings hymns written by the greatest hymn writers – Isaac Watts, Charles and John Wesley, William Cowper, and John Newton, to name but a few – and the best contemporary Scripture songs by Michael W. Smith, Twila Paris, Jack Hayford, Graham Kendrick, and others. The Chancel Choir of forty voices sings music of various styles from Johann Sebastian Bach to the contemporary composer Ken Medema.
The Worship Team – consisting of six singers, guitar, bass guitar, synthesizer, piano, and various rhythm instruments – leads the congregation in both hymns and contemporary Scripture songs.
“GraceSong” is a select group of ten vocalists who sing A Capella music, and occasionally with accompaniment.
In addition to leading in weekly worship services, these choral groups, plus the Men’s Quartet, Ladies’ Trio, soloists, instrumentalists, and Children’s Choir present concerts and special seasonal cantatas appropriate for lifting our hearts in adoration of our Lord. All of the music at Grace is presented as an offering to the Lord. He is the ultimate audience.
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper each month alternating between the morning and evening service, and we use the ancient traditions – the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed and others during our communion celebration. In all of our services there is active participation by the congregation in the public reading of Scripture, praise to the Lord for His grace, intercessory prayers for missionaries and other concerns and needs.
The Bible as the infallible, inerrant Word of God is preached expositionally each week, building up the believers in the faith. The Gospel of Christ is also presented weekly so that unbelievers have an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
